Top immigrant countries refugee analysis

This plot shows the refugee as a percentage of immigrant and the immigrant as a percentage of total population. By comparing the year 1990 and 2017, we can see that the immigration-to-population ratio in United Arab Emirates is much higher than other countries. However, the refugee-to-immigration ratio is very low. By contrast, Germany¡¯s immigration-to-population ratio is not high, but the refugee-to-immigration ratio is very high. In 2017, the refugee-to-immigration ratio in France also reached a peak.

World refugee stock (including asylum seekers) analysis

When analyzing the refugee stock, we can see that Turkey, Jordan, and Palestine received many refugees, especially turkey, there is a dramatic increase from the year 2010 to 2015, this is because of their location. Germany and the United States are also in the top place, this is because they believed that refugees will fill the gap in the job market, which in turn benefits economic growth.

Correlation between countries immigration and refugee stock

Finally, I tried to find the relationship between refugee stock and immigrant stock. The scatter plot shows that there appears to be a relationship between these two, implying that refugee is important in explaining population movement nowadays.
